Teenager charged over alleged stabbing of another boy at Sawtell beach party

A 17-year-old boy has been charged after a teenager was stabbed repeatedly during an illegal beach party.

After allegedly being stabbed in the back, abdomen, and arm at Sawtell on the NSW North Coast Sunday night, the 16-year-old was left fighting for his life.

According to the police, roughly 100 people were at the beach when a fight started.

The teenager was arrested at Lismore Police Station shortly before 11 a.m. on Tuesday and charged with wounding a person with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and affray. He was denied bail and was scheduled to appear in a children’s court on Wednesday.

Witnesses recorded the incident on their smartphones around 8 p.m. on Sunday near First Ave in Sawtell, near Coffs Harbour.

Anyone with information on the incident or who may have video footage on a mobile phone is advised to come forward.
