If you recently had a good or bad experience with a business or a specific seller, you probably want to share it with others.
Social media is the best place to do it, and this brief guide teaches you how to leave a review on the Facebook app.
Let’s get to it!
How to Write a Review on Facebook
Business page subscribers can leave a review on Facebook via a few simple steps:
- Navigate to and like the page you want to review or recommend;
- Click on the ‘Reviews’ tab (it may be hidden under ‘More’);
- Click ‘yes’ or ‘no’ on the popup on your left-hand side;
- Fill out the recommendation box (you can also insert emojis);
- Select your post audience and click ‘Post’.
Note: While the above procedure is specific to the desktop-based browser experience, the mobile phone process follows very similar steps.
Are Recommendations Different From Reviews?
Facebook’s ‘Recommendations’ feature is the evolution of the older ‘Reviews’ system, and you can still find it under the original ‘Reviews’ tab on any page that has activated it.
Therefore, instead of leaving reviews, buyers can now choose to recommend a product or a business, share their opinion in a written form, and select any tags that describe it.
Moreover, recommendations appear differently than reviews in terms of page location, online reach, and whether or not they include rating stars, photos, tags, and reactions.
Note: You cannot rate a business any longer since Facebook only bases its new system on the number of recommendations, ratings, and reviews companies have received.
How to Leave a Review on Facebook Marketplace
Knowing the time the average Australian spends on Facebook, it is understandable that Facebook has become a universal social media to find reviews for some products. Facebook also incorporates a review system for its Marketplace platform—a digital trading destination for people and businesses—that is only available via mobile.
Buyers can review a seller in several straightforward steps:
- Navigate to the trade correspondence or the purchased listing;
- Tap ‘Review Seller’ when you see the popup;
- Write up a short review and rate the seller;
- Publish the public review if you are not blocking the seller.
Sellers can also request reviews from their buyers (and reply to them), after which they will be made public and accessible through their commerce profiles.
The 5-Star Rating System
In addition to leaving a review, buyers and sellers can now rate each other in a few steps:
- Access the Marketplace messages sections;
- Click on the conversation you had with the buyer/seller;
- Tap on ‘Rate Seller/Buyer’;
- Choose from 1 to 5 stars and select the reason(s) for your rating;
- Click next to publish the rating.
You can rate a buyer or a seller within 14 days of the transaction or the start of your mutual correspondence. Also, while buyer ratings are no longer visible to the public, seller ratings appear on their profiles (if five or more in number) two weeks after buyers submit them.
There are plenty of online marketplaces in Australia to choose from, and the reviews are one of their best advantages for the sellers and buyers. Reaching mass audiences does offer people and businesses the potential to make more sales.
Note: In certain territories, Facebook also allows users to review the products they purchase via Facebook Marketplace. Check if this option is available to you.
So now that you know how to use Facebook to review, recommend and rate businesses and individual sellers, spend a minute or two to share your opinion on any product or service you have used in the past. By doing so, you help your friends and other customers and ensure that businesses improve their offerings and community relations.
1. Can you still write reviews on Facebook?
In a way, yes. However, Facebook has converted its ‘Reviews’ system into a ‘Recommendations’ feature that includes some of the functionality of past reviews.
2. Can Facebook reviews be anonymous?
As of this moment, no. To leave a review/recommendation, Facebook requires users to log in to their accounts and makes anything they write on a business page public.
3. Where is the review tab on Facebook?
You can find the ‘Reviews’ tab of any business page beneath its profile image (provided it has been activated by the page admin). Then, if you want to know how to leave a review on the Facebook app or via your desktop browser, read our full guide above.
